What is Passion, Really?!

Passion is a scientific term rooted in human motivation. It is one of the strongest forms of Intrinsic Motivation and has 5 elements (Vallerand, 2003). When someone is "passionate" about something, they are: (1) naturally inclined, (2) love it, (3) invest time and energy in it, (4) find it meaningful, and (5) consider it part of their identity.

Everyone has many passions that are seeded in all areas of their lives. Passion isn't one seed. It's many seeds that can be cultivated in any area of your life to create self-growth and more meaningful experiences.

How to Use Passion Strategically

Passion pursuit is one of the best strategies for generating more meaning and purpose in any area of your life, including pesonal, school, and work areas, marriages and child-parent relationships, and skill growth. 

Passion even protects against anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges because of the purpose, meaning, and self-worth that passion pursuit generates inside the self. 

When people learn to pursue their passions and interests strategically they discover infinitely new and creative ways of generating more meaning and purpose in their lives.
